== Tasklist Beta Milestone Report ==

This paper summarizes <impl-plan.html> second
milestone results. TODOs functionality was added
to standard build. Anyone can try and provide
feedback.


== Raised Issues ==

  - scanning takes too much memory
    there is leak in default EditorCookie implementation
    workaround suggested, root problem filled as #38218

  - scanning for TODOs is slow
    must be measured to find a hot spot

  - switching between All and Current file is slow
    it was premature memory performance
    optimization, caching switched on

  - scanning on Linux JVM obstructs user due
    to unsupported thread priorities handling
    I'll investigate JNI call to kernel
    to adjust scan thread scheduling policy

  - Vincent suggested to scan current file,
    opened files and then all files in All
    files view. It increases chance that once user
    stops search they  get most relevant results first

  - Task toolbar duplicated
    NetBeans platform was adjusted to hide
    Task toolbar by default

  - Some UI tweaks are still pending
    graphics, tooltips, options, ...

  - unit tests are missing


== Summary ==

We got negative feedback on performance. But it
was not milestone goal. It is addressed for
next Tasklist Freeze milestone. I'm afraid
that unit tests will be postponed behind the
Tasklist Freeze milestone.
